Sunday 3 January 2010

As this New Year comes up, it is our pleasure on behalf of the entire OrthoWave Staff, to present to each of you our very sincere wishes of happiness and fruitfulness. Be sure we will do more than our very best, all along this coming year, to make you taking advantage of the huge work we have been achieving during the past 12 months. In the course of 2009, we have afforded enormous resources in order to take up the challenge of making OrthoWave stay as the “ultimate tool in outcomes studies in Orthopaedics”, while fulfilling on the one hand strictness of legal duties with respect to privacy and computerized safety, and on the other hand resorting to the most powerful and modern computer systems.

These critical developments regard firstly the new “web-based” platform to get access to the DataBase, then the “OrthoWave Orthopaedic Community” through a totally redesigned OrthoWave web site, and finally a necessary adaptation to extremely changing regulations about clinical studies with the development of a third group of OW databases, i.e. the “MDB” monitored Data Bases…

A sound change can be anticipated, willingly or reluctantly, regarding mentality among Orthopaedic Surgeons, with respect to their participation in clinical studies and scientific reports. OrthoWave then has to be empowered to meet with these various changes at best, while staying in accordance with its concept of software designed by surgeons for surgeons, under the aegis of Scientific Societies, and in conformity with legal related recommendations by Health Departments…

Ride the Sixth Wave …

Monday 27 October 2008

We are in 2096, somewhere in a faraway galaxy, a spaceship is going its way. An impressive “astro-surgeon” is performing some studies about the results of a very new “Hip bio-implant” at … 65 years of follow-up, based upon the OrthoWave™ software suite, of course!

From data collection by some sprightly droids, and link with several astro-colleagues here and there in the Galaxy, to the merge of data and final publication, the study is ready to be lectured at the Intergalactic Scientific Center…

Jean-Alain Epinette, M.D.

Welcome aboard! It is great pleasure and honor to launch this fully redesigned OrthoWave web site, hope it will meet your expectation and demonstrate the outstanding abilities of the new Internet-based V6 version.

OrthoWave has come a long way. The very first outcomes study softwares we have developed, with the ARIA™ Softwares company, were “MacHip” and “MacKnee”, written in Basic on the first MacIntosh in…1985. Later on, partnership with several developers allowed to go ahead with OrthoSoft in 1987, then O.Soft (Hip & Knee modules) which already featured the main basic functionalities as OrthoWave™ today. In 1996, we decided with the ARIA™ Company, to re-write the program as a new software called OrthoWave, that would be totally devoted to Joint Arthroplasty. These first versions of OrthoWave™ from version 1 until version 5, were Omnis-based development. Due to some inadequacy to present and future needs, and namely development of Internet-based shared databases, the whole program has been again fully re-written since 2004 in Java language so as to fulfill all on-line use requirements. Here we are today with the very promising Internet-based Version 6.
